Editing a budget allows you to modify all of the budget properties you've set when creating it.

To begin modifying a budget, switch to the Budget section of the application by clicking on the coins icon in the sidebar. Once there, edit the budget in one of the following ways:

  • swipe left on the budget name in the sidebar and select "Edit" from the menu that appears,

  • enter edit list mode by clicking on the Edit button at the bottom of the budget list and click on the budget you wish to edit:,

  • bring up the contextual menu and select Edit.

In the window that opens, you'll be see all the account properties that you saw when creating the budget in the first place.

Editing repeating budgets

Some values have special meaning for repeating budgets. For example, if your budget repeats every month and you try to change the monthly amount, what period should it be applied for? Past, current or future? MoneyWiz allows you to decide.

When you try to modify an amount for a repeating budget, you'll be asked which period to modify the amount for:

  • before current period,

  • for current period,

  • for future periods.

You can select any combination of those options -- you are not limited to just one. Thanks to this feature, if the amount of your internet bill changes for example, you can easily change the current and future period allowance, leaving old budget periods as they were.

If you try to edit budget period settings (start date, repeat option or frequency), you'll be warned that by proceeding, all budget periods will have their allowances reset to the current budget allowance.
