Thanks to debug log files, we can resolve many issues faster because we can see what MoneyWiz is doing under the hood while you perform an action that you are having problems with. This article instructs you how to enable, disable and send the log files to us.
Please note that log files are not running by default and while they can contain the information about individual transactions that are synced (e.g. if they are running during an Online Banking sync session), they do not include any sensitive information like real logins, usernames or passwords.
Enabling log files
Please pick the device where the problem occurs and go to MoneyWiz Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the menu.
Find "About & Help" section and navigate there.
Quickly click 10 times on "MoneyWiz" under the application logo until a question appears whether to enable log files. Select to enable.
Logging is now enabled and will continue even if you quit and start MoneyWiz again. Now please perform the action that is causing trouble.
It'll be really helpful if you can make note of the date and time when the error/problem occurs -- log files can grow really big, especially if logging is enabled for a long time, so it'll help us locate the important place in the log faster if we know what time to look for (more or less).
After you've reproduced the problem, please send the log files to us!
Sharing log files
Please pick the device where the problem occurs and go to MoneyWiz Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the menu.
Find "About & Help" section and navigate there.
Click on "Send logs over email" button below the MoneyWiz application logo.
This will launch new e-mail window with log files ready to send. Please e-mail it to [email protected] from the e-mail address you've contacted us previously so we can link the two messages.
After logs are sent, please remember to disable them!
Disabling log files
Disabling log files is important because otherwise they can grow over time and take up your free space. To disable them:
Please pick the device where the problem occurs and go to MoneyWiz Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the menu.
Find "About & Help" section and navigate there.
Click on "Disable logs" button below the MoneyWiz application logo.
